LESSONS
Facilities
Formerly a photography store, the Topeka location’s basement had all these cool darkrooms for developing pictures. We’ve lightened the walls & ceilings, treated the walls with sound dampening stuff, knocked out half of the walls to open the spaces up, and outfitted them with nice drumsets, amps, and stereos. No more sinks either.
The Lawrence store is much smaller, but we've got a nice room equipped with the same kind of setup.
Folks
Teachers at Supersonic love what they do! They aren’t here just to punch the clock (cash your checks) or babysit your kiddos. They really like what they do. Skills range from college degrees, decades of teaching experience, years touring on the road, etc. Another neat thing is that they tend to stick around. We don’t just have this year’s graduating seniors on board...some of them have been teaching here for about 10 years.

Rentals
We offer two kinds of rentals. Our lease-to-own program is for beginners wishing to try out the drums (snare and drumset) guitar or bass. There is a three month minimum but you can buy out the contract early if the student decides to stick with it. Lease-to-own pricing varies from $20-$50 per month. Download our Lease-to-Own Contract
Our backline program is for performing musicians. We rent drums, guitars, and PA gear. In most cases, the items available for backline rental have been rented out before. The typical backline rental rates rarely exceed 10% per day of what the item(s) would cost to purchase, or 25% of the purchase price per week. A full security deposit or valid credit card with enough available credit to cover the purchase price and ID is required. Call the store for more details and availability. Consignment
You can sell your stuff at Supersonic Music! We take items on consignment from time to time, based on our current product mix in stock and the item for sale. If we agree to consign your instrument, you always remain in control. You set the price and then decide which of two programs to use. Download the .pdf with all the details. Whether you need an on-site evaluation of your school or church’s PA system, an appraisal of your vintage drumset, or a tip on how to set up your Floyd Rose tremolo, you’re gonna find great service for low cost. Our knowledge is valuable—our staff has over a century of cumulative knowledge of the stuff we deal with—but we’re not out to drain your wallet with inflated service fees. Sometimes you won’t even be charged for this stuff; y’see, we’re out to develop a clientele so we can pay off the mortgage, not just twist on some folks for this month’s rent.
