Derek Sharp. Owner & Instructor. Drummer.

Has been drumming since 1981 and teaching since 1987. Influences/studied with Steve Smith, Glen Velez, Bill Stewart, Jim Chapin, Jeff Hamilton, Dennis Rogers, Tom Morgan, and Dylan Bassett. BA from Washburn U. and Teaches at the Topeka store. Currently not in a band, but makes much music making TreeHouse drums and studying/teaching ethnic handdrumming. Has been in various school bands, pit/musical dates, and the jazz trio, Slartibartfast. Likes Jazz, Funk, Latin and Acappella. He enjoys teaching folks who want to learn. He likes to come up with alternative ways to say the same thing so the material can fit everyone.

Has been playing guitar since 1989 and teaching since 1993. Influences/studied with Alan Holdsworth, Jim Hall, Joe Pass, Danny Embrey, and Rod Fleeman. Studied Jazz Improvization and Composition at Washburn U. and teaches at the Lawrence store. Now playing drums in DOJO and guitar in Cosmo Politics and played drums in Jazz Urchin and Grand Fiasco. Likes Jazz, funk, fusion, and jam.

Been playing guitar since 1991 and teaching since 2001. Influences/studied with John Scofield, Pat Metheny, Brian Baggett, Danny Embrey, and Luis Milan. Has a Guitar Building and Repair Certificate from Midwest Guitar School of St. Louis. Has played in a variety of local bands. Likes all styles --really-- (except opera) and is seeking beginner to intermediate students with a strong desire to learn.
