Wanna Whack On Stuff?

Derek can show you how! In a friendly, easy style, Derek can work with your class, group, or family to teach you the basics of group handdrumming. With over 15 years' teaching experience, Derek's lectures, performances and demonstrations are entertaining and fun. Learn how to communicate better, how to back up other musicians or learn about the history of drums and drumming. He'll be glad to design a program that fits your situation at a price that fits your budget.

Services

Lessons

Supersonic Music offers private lessons in guitar, bass, and drums at both locations. Typical scheduling is one half-hour per week. Fees range from $10.00 to $15 per half hour. The instructors on staff can teach beginners (child and adult), working musicians, and can even offer fresh views for professional musicians. Call the store for more details and openings.

Repairs

We are able to help you fix your broken stuff! We have folks on staff who build custom guitars & drums and who have electronic repair experience. If we can't fix it, we can get it to the folks who can. We'll help you with return authorizations, shipping, and all the other paperwork associated with warranty and non-warranty repairs-all at very reasonable prices.

Custom Work

Rentals

We offer two kinds of rentals. Our rent-to-own program is for beginners wishing to try out the drums (snare and drumset) guitar or bass. There is a three month minimum but you can buy out the contract early if the student decides to stick with it. Rent-to-own pricing varies from $20-$50 per month.

Our backline program is for performing musicians. We rent drums, guitars, and PA gear. In most cases, the items available for backline rental are not new. The typical backline rental rates never exceed 10% per day of what the item(s) would cost to purchase, or 25% of the purchase price per week. A full security deposit or valid credit card with enough available credit to cover the purchase price and ID is required. Call the store for more details and availability.

Seminars

We sometimes host instructive demonstrations, seminars, and clinics. For example, we have hosted drum clinics with Glen Velez and Gregg Bissonnette, West African Handdrumming demonstrations, and a mic usage seminar. Where Supersonic Music excels in this area is Derek's performance/lecture/demonstrations of drums and percussion. He's given presentations to preschools through college classes. He's taught at libraries, at-risk youth camps, parks, churches and at the zoo. He can come on site to your school, business, church or home to chat about a host of topics including: drum etiquette, techniques, rhythmic games, communication, history and more.
