DESCRIPTION
This is a fantastically HUGE set of vintage late-70s Slingerlands in excellent, fully functioning condition. All-original except for the reso head on the 14" mounted tom (which was replaced with a Remo coated Ambassador), this drumset features a very clean, very tight black wrapped finish, snug and secure Niles badges (badge serial numbers listed below), 5-ply shells, like-new internal mufflers on all toms (but not on the bass drum), and chrome hardware. Included are 10x14" and 12x15" mounted toms (all sizes are depth x diameter), 16x18" and 18x20" floor toms with four legs each, and a 14x24" bass drum with four anchoring spurs and double-tom mount. Note: Although we can't find this exact configuration in Slingerland's catalogs, it is similar to their late-70s "Classic Rock Outfit" but with larger toms (that setup was 13/14" mounted with 16/18" floors).
As a used rig, expect to find typical age-appropriate signs use and storage, including light scuffs and scratches on the wrapped finish, a bit of rust and corrosion on the chrome, bolt indentions in the post of the double-tom mount where it's been tightened over the years, significant wear on the batter heads, pedal rash on the player's side bass drum hoop, a few worn-through feet on the floor tom legs, and some dust and fingerprints here and there. That said, all of these drums are impressively clean for their age, original reso heads on all but the 14" tom are almost untouched (see photos for an example), interiors are immaculate, bearing edges are smooth, and all threaded components function as designed.
