DESCRIPTION
This is a fantastic-sounding vintage 1930s Ludwig Universal Model 6.5x14" (depth x diameter) snare drum in very good overall condition. This drum features a nickel-over-brass 1-piece beaded shell, six tube lugs, a single-flanged batter hoop with clips, and a calfskin batter head. The snareside hoop has been replaced with a modern triple-flanged chrome hoop. Heads, wires, and some of the tension rods have also been replaced over the years, but the lugs, backing screws, strainer, butt, batter hoop, and rim clips all appear to be original.
As this is a vintage instrument with decades of handling, use, and storage, you should expect to find typical signs of age-appropriate wear including light scuffs, scratches, minor corrosion, fingerprints, and dust. Note also that the number 7066 has been etched into the shell just above the vent hole. Normal cosmetic wear aside, there are no major dings or dents, the bearing edges are in good shape, all threaded components and hardware work as they should, and this drum will arrive fully functional and ready to play right out of the box.
