KEN ANDERSON

Lawrence Drum & Keyboard Percussion Instructor

Instrument(s) and Levels Taught
  • Ken teaches drumset, snare drum, and mallet percussion instruments (xylophone, bells, etc.) as well as beginning guitar and keyboard at our Lawrence location. He accepts students of all ages and ability levels.

Education History
  • Ken holds Bachelor of Percussion (1992) and Master of Musicology (2002) degrees from Kansas University. He also attended the University of North Texas and has studied with George Boberg, Kurt Gartner, Kenneth Green, Robert Schietroma, and Dan Gailey.

Teaching History
  • Ken has been teaching since the late 1980s and has been part of the Supersonic family since 2010.

Performance History and Influences
  • Ken was intermittently a member of the University of Kansas band from 1986-2002.  He performed in Jazz, Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Marching band, and Percussion Ensemble.  He has also performed with Mammoth Recording Artists Kill Creek,  and performed with local bands such as Sellout, Michael Beers Band, Trixie and the Tornados among many others.  His personal influences include Peter Erskine, Billy Cobham, Carl Palmer, Peter Criss, Stuart Copeland, and Ludwig Van Beethoven.
